Nikkei Glocal: Urban Development in West London

An article by JLGC’s Andrew Stevens has been published in the latest (December 18) edition of the Japanese public executive magazine Nikkei Glocal (‘Old Oak Common and Park Royal – West London’s Large-Scale Development Project’).

The article looks at the development opportunity in Old Oak and Park Royal as undertaken by London’s second mayoral development corporation, known as the OPDC.  It also examines the recent move towards mayoral development corporations in the UK for redeveloping post-industrial land since the London Legacy Development Corporation for the Olympic Park, such as the South Tees site of the former SSI steelworks in Redcar.

Nikkei Glocal is published by Nikkei Inc.’s Research Institute of Industry and Regional Economy and aims to foster creative regions in Japan.  Its series reporting on local government initiatives outside of Japan is compiled through the cooperation of Japanese overseas agencies such as embassies, trade missions and international representatives (e.g. CLAIR).

The article was kindly translated by JLGC Director Yoshiyuki Kurono with the assistance of Victor Chuah.
