Article for Nikkei Glocal on regeneration through cycling in London

Our article looking at how the ‘Mini Holland’ scheme of London Mayor Boris Johnson works with Outer London borough councils to secure both local behaviour and image change has been published in the latest (January 18) edition of the Japanese public executive magazine Nikkei Glocal (‘Mini Holland – an attempt for area branding’).

The article looks at the particular experience of the London Borough of Waltham Forest, where wide-ranging cycling improvements have been introduced since it was an Olympic Host Borough for London 2012, of particular interest to Tokyo as it prepares for its Games in 2020.

Nikkei Glocal is published by Nikkei Inc.’s Research Institute of Industry and Regional Economy and aims to foster creative regions in Japan.  Its series reporting on local government initiatives outside of Japan is compiled through the cooperation of Japanese overseas agencies such as embassies, trade missions and international representatives (e.g. CLAIR).

It was written by JLGC’s Andrew Stevens and translated by JLGC Director Kazuya Shima, with the assistance of Benjamin Preece.
