JLGC Instagram account; sharing information about places in collaboration with local government in Japan

JLGC started our Instagram account “Local eyes Japan (@localeyesjapan)” in March 2021, with the aim of supporting overseas promotion by local governments in Japan and making more people overseas aware of not-so-well-known local attractions there.
The account is a project to raise awareness of the less well-known charms of Japan in the regions, such as places, beautiful scenery, food, and culture from all over the country in addition to the more famous attractions.
The content is mainly posts from Japanese local government, containing reliable information from local people, especially local governments who are familiar with their local area.
JLGC selects and reposts attractive photos from posts tagged with “#localeyesjapan_share”.
This continuing project lets JLGC centrally collect and share a wide range of information, allowing Instagram users to access details of various regions at once. Viewers interested in one area can also jump from one to another group of posts via their Instagram account.
Japan’s local government will have more opportunities to be platform their regions to a wider audience, so information can be spread more effectively through the account.
In addition, JLGC assists in disseminating information in English, such as English translation, so that local governments can easily disseminate information overseas.
Through Local eyes Japan (@localeyesjapan), JLGC wants to increase the number of fans of Japan and give them ideas about visiting Japan, Japanese-related products, and become more familiar with Japanese culture.
JLGC will continue to provide information that can only be found by people living in the local area, not easily found in guidebooks, and is essential reading for those who want to know not only major tourist spots but also local attractions. Instagram is also a great way to introduce holiday ideas and new cuisine to family and friends, and followers of Local eyes Japan (@localeyesjapan)” can set themselves apart from those other tourists following the regular beaten tourist path.
Posts tagged with “#localeyesjapan_share” are not only from local government in Japan, anyone can participate and post with hashtags, and contributors with any information related to Japan that they would like to recommend, such as Japanese shops and restaurants, crafts purchased in the UK, recipes for Japanese food, etc., can be posted with photos using the hashtag “#localeyesjapan_share”.
