Deadline for applications: Monday 30 September 2019
We are pleased to announce that the Japan Study Tour 2020 application process is now open for local government professionals and those working with the public sector.
JLGC London invites professionals from the countries we cover (the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and countries within Northern Europe – see T&Cs on our website for full details) for a week-long tour of Japan and series of seminars and workshops, to exchange best practice, opinions and information on current issues of devolution and to deepen understanding of each other’s systems of local autonomy.
The tour will this year be hosted by Tsu City Council in Mie Prefecture, after an orientation on local government throughout Japan at JLGC’s head office CLAIR Tokyo, with site visits to various facilities in the capital run by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the local authority for one of the world’s largest cities (sites TBC, for updates please see the JST web page here for details as they become available).
The Tsu City part of the tour will help participants learn how Japanese cities of varying size improve local services through a system of devolved local government. Participants will see a wide spectrum of best practice and investment strategies regarding business, the environment and society to give practical insight into structures and roles of local government in Japan.
The application form can be requested by sending an email to mailbox@jlgc.org.uk with ‘JST 2020 Tsu’ in the subject line.
For full details on the tour and the schedule, as well as all terms and conditions for applying and taking part, please check the JST 2020 page on the JLGC website.
Please feel free to forward this email to any professional contacts within your network you consider may be interested in applying.
