Bedford looks to forge links with Japanese firms

The Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson has paid a visit to Japanese company

Fujifilm in his town, as part of a council plan for better engagement with local businesses. The visit to the company’s site on the St Martin’s Way Business Park took place as part of the mayor’s ‘Open for Business’ programme, where the mayor paid tribute to Fujifilm’s innovative product line and its “special blend of the best of British and Japanese business cultures… an eclectic mix which draws on the best traditions of both countries.”

Following his visit last week, the mayor said:

It was a great pleasure to meet Fujifilm UK’s Managing Director Mr Matsushita and his colleagues, and I am grateful to them for their welcome and their warm attitude to myself and other representatives of the Council in attendance. I know that the Japanese members of staff here in Bedford will be thinking of home at this extremely difficult time, and I have written to the company to offer my sympathies and very best wishes.
