Issue 14 contents: Effects of the Tokyo 2020 Games on mobility
① Due to the encouragement of traffic demand management and remote work during the Games, there was a reduction in the daytime population in priority districts, which have a concentration of competition venues and where there is high traffic passing through congested road and rail transit areas. (see page1 of the attached file.)
② During the Games, railway passengers were down by about 30 to 40 per cent from pre-COVID days, and about 10 to 20 per cent from before the Games. (see page 2)
③ Through calls to watch the Games at home, the movement of people showed a decreasing tendency during the hours of the opening and closing ceremonies and other key events. (see page 3)
④ Households account for about 70 per cent of water usage. Judging by the changes in water demand, it is assumed that many people were viewing the Games at home. (see page 4-6)
