The New Local Government Network have published Local Experiences, Global Perspectives: Local government across the world, a collection of from local politicians and thinkers from around the world, looking at localist policies and new ideas on community engagement.
The collection includes a contribution by Kanagawa Prefecture Governor Shigefumi Matsuzawa, on the use of local election manifestos in Japan, particularly around banning public smoking. Both topics were originally introduced to Japan by reports from the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations.
