Deputy Director Yamaguchi of the JLGC attended a ceremony to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Nippon Club on Sunday 24th May and the Japanese Garden Party held in Hammersmith Park.
The garden party was held to mark the centenary of the 1910 Japan-British Exhibition. Maintained by Hammersmith and Fulham Council and volunteers from the Japan Society, the garden has been restored with new landscaping and planted with Japanese plants and trees.
The garden party included displays of Taiko and Kami-shibai, a Japanese form of Punch and Judy, and a demonstration of a Tea Ceremony amongst the entertainment and activities on offer. There were also food stalls serving Takoyaki and Yakisoba which proved very popular with visitors.
