he Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the British Embassy in Tokyo and the City of London Corporation co-hosted a seminar on green finance at Tokyo’s Hotel Grand Ark Hanzomon on 25 October 2022, 18:30-20:00 (JST). The seminar, which was held for the fifth time last year, connected Tokyo and London featuring keynote speeches by Governor Koike and the Lord Mayor of the City of London. In addition, the latest trends and progressive initiatives were introduced through a dialogue between British and Japanese government officials, case studies by Japanese and foreign companies and panel discussions.
Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike started the proceedings with an update on her administration’s current initiatives in green finance. She was then followed by an address and presentation by the then Lord Mayor of London Vincent Keaveny who commented on the focus of the new King, Charles III on green issues and the importance of green finance to the City of London.
For the first time in three years, on-site participation was also possible, and those in the financial sector as well as anyone interested in investment, the environment and other fields were encouraged to attend.
Co-organisers were Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the British Embassy in Tokyo and the City of London Corporation. Simultaneous Japanese/English interpretation was provided and an archive video of the streaming is available here;

This month also saw the announcement of the Tokyo-London Financial Seminar 2023 to be held in London, organised again jointly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the City of London Corporation. The seminar aims to highlight asset management and FinTech opportunities in Tokyo and attract relevant companies into the Tokyo market. The event will be held Thursday, 2 February 2023, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am (GMT. For Japan, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on the same day).
The expected audience is of Japanese and overseas asset managers, FinTech-related companies, and financial institutions and those attending will see a format consisting of an in-person venue and online (Japanese/English interpretation will be available) at the Mansion House (Walbrook, London EC4N 8BH. Attendance at the venue is by invitation only)
